Wings. Order them. Hands down the best on the east coast and I always stop in the joint after a fishing trip out of the Manasquan Inlet to fuel up. Saltiest bar in NJ, they used to have a happy hour that ran from 4 to 7 – in the morning – to take care of the commercial fishermen after they were done packing out of their scalloping and flounder trips, but now in post-Covid times its under normal bar hours. It’s a dive bar with incredible ambiance and flavor. The Bob-Bos platter offers fried coronary delight with fried shrimp, chicken tenders and clam strips your heart doctor will not like but your tastebuds will. Adorned with all local nautical fare from busted anchors to laminated post-Superstorm Sandy images in the bar, its an immersive experience to see the characters that walk in and stumble out of the place. This is my go-to bar hands down in Jersey. If you want to feel the flavor of the underground fisherman community, go there. A Shuffleboard table and local dive bands keep the groove going on any given weekend. The Broadway is not a place to visit, its an institution that keeps the fisherman community flowing with great comfort eats and a story you’ll inevitably leave with to tell to your friends about. Plus its steps away from the party boat fleet and Manasquan Inlet to wet a line after a few beers.
