Costa Sunglasses - Rincon Model

By Nick Honachefsky

I grew up in the 1980s and everybody wore Oakley Frogskins; google them if you’re under 35 years old, they’re classy. I saved up grass-cutting money and bought the Frogskins clear frames with purple Iridium lenses and felt like it made me cool. I mean “Thermonuclear Protection” was the shit back then. But I’ve now transitioned over to Costa since I’ve been on their pro staff for around 15 years or so, and the pair of shades I wear are the Rincon frames with blue 580G class lenses. You’ll see the resemblance to the Frogskins, so it brings me back to wear them, but the more pronounced brow of the Rincon frame actually looks a bit meaner and cooler. Blue lenses are rad, but there’s a reason I get the blue lenses as they are designed to cut through polarization at high sunny days offshore on the water, where the water sheen glare is eliminated and I can see mahi under lobster pots, or tuna down deep under the boat. The Rincons are stylish and practical to elevate your fishing game. Only problem I’ve ever had personally is that I inevitably end up crushing the lenses when I put them in my pocket and lean on a rail or something, so don’t do that. I don’t particularly like the smashed lens return policy on Costa, as of this writing because its like $100 for a lens replacement, but that’s for them to work out. The Rincons are great and they are my ONLY choice when fishing. I love the Blackfin models too but that’s for another time.
